Consequently, the WHO has created a\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/04-03-2015-who-calls-on-countries-to-reduce-sugars-intake-among-adults-and-children\">guideline<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>that recommends\u00a0<strong>reducing the daily intake of free sugars<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>less than 10% of the total energy intake<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>However, in Europe, intake in\u00a0<u>adults\u00a0<\/u>ranges from about<strong>\u00a016-17%<\/strong>\u00a0in countries like Spain and the United Kingdom.
