When talking about environmental change and social responsibilities within our industry, one of the topics that comes to mind is Palm Oil. What is really happening with Palm Oil and what companies can do to ensure a responsible use?

Palm Oil is the most used vegetable oil in the world, now a days 50% of the products you can find in the supermarket contain palm oil and the price of this good is so cheap that the demand of palm oil has doubled during the last 15 years.

Palm Oil’s real origin is Africa but during the 20th century the production of this product has been moved to Southeast Asia, currently being Indonesia and Malasya the biggest producers in the world. Although the production of Palm Oil creates jobs for many people and contributes to economic growth it’s also causing many environmental problems like climate change, pollution, erosion or social impacts.

To contribute to a responsible use of Palm Oil, DISPROQUIMA is now member of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), an organization that promotes the sustainable production and use of palm oil. All our ingredients containing palm oil are manufactured following RSPO sustainability principles.
